PM Modi launches key development projects, honours Sardar Patel on the eve of his 150th birth anniversary in Kevadia

On the eve of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s 150th birth anniversary, Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Kevadia on Thursday to participate in a series of programmes aimed at boosting local infrastructure and paying tribute to the Iron Man of India.

On the eve of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s 150th birth anniversary, Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Kevadia on Thursday to participate in a series of programmes aimed at boosting local infrastructure and paying tribute to the Iron Man of India.

In his first engagement, PM Modi flagged off a fleet of electric buses designed to provide comfortable and sustainable transportation for visitors to Kevadia, a key tourist destination and site of the iconic Statue of Unity. Speaking about the initiative, PM Modi said, “These electric buses will ensure eco-friendly and efficient travel for people visiting Kevadia, aligning with our vision of sustainable development.”

As part of the commemorative activities to honour Sardar Patel, the PM released a special coin and postage stamp, celebrating his monumental contributions to India’s unity and integrity. “On this historic occasion, we remember and salute the unparalleled legacy of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, whose vision continues to inspire generations,” PM Modi remarked.

Further strengthening Kevadia’s growth, PM Modi inaugurated and laid the foundation stones for development projects worth Rs 1,219 crore. Among the highlights were the inauguration of Birsa Munda Bhavan, an iconic cultural centre dedicated to tribal leader Bhagwan Birsa Munda; a new residential complex for employees of the Gujarat State Electricity Corporation (GSEC) and Sardar Sarovar Narmada Nigam Limited (SSNNL); the first phase of a hospitality district aimed at enhancing tourism infrastructure; and a Bonsai Garden, adding to Kevadia’s natural attractions.

“These key projects will not only enhance the quality of life for residents and employees but also strengthen Kevadia’s position as a world-class destination,” PM Modi said. “We are committed to building a modern, sustainable, and prosperous India, guided by the ideals of great leaders like Sardar Patel.”

The 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel is being marked across the nation with various programmes that celebrate his pivotal role in India’s freedom struggle and unification. Kevadia, home to the Statue of Unity, remains a symbolic and fitting place to honour his enduring legacy.
